A Job Coach directly assists individuals with disabilities in pre-employment or employment skills necessary to obtain employment and/or support clients to independently maintain employment in the community. Job Coaches provide ongoing support to clients working at various employment sites within the community. This support is individual-based and centered around work-related goals that focus on helping the consumer obtain the maximum level of independence within their job. Service will be provided at the client’s assigned job site or place of employment.
High School Diploma
18 years of age
Must have valid driver’s license, and reliable transportation.
Able to work well in a variety of work environments, and demonstrate high levels of patience and positive attitudes toward persons with developmental disabilities.
Willing to be a team player and to work cooperatively with their supervisor(s).
Able to communicate effectively with the clients and supervisors that they work with.
Staff who provide support in Bridges programs work in a changing environment that adjusts to the needs of the individuals in program services. The environment may be fast-paced with interruptions, distractions and deadlines. Staff need to be flexible and be able to adjust to changing needs or activities. Depending on the needs of the individuals, the work can be physically demanding including transferring or supporting people with mobility needs, lifting or moving items up to 50 lbs, walking or standing for extended periods of time or providing support through CPR/First Aid, behavioral support, and other interventions. Staff must be able to write legibly and effectively for assessments and reports. Staff must be proficient in Office/Word.
